Betel-nut condom wins taste tests

Betel-nut condom wins taste tests - CNN.com: "NEW DELHI, India (Reuters) -- An Indian firm has launched a paan-flavored condom designed to evoke the pungent taste of the betel nut and tobacco concoction chewed and then spat out by millions of South Asians, newspapers have reported.
art.betel.afp.gi.jpg

Millions of South Asians chew and then spit out paan, a pungent betel nut and tobacco concoction.

Hindustan Latex is targeting the new condom range at prostitutes, who are among the most vulnerable to sexually transmitted diseases such as AIDS, the Hindustan Times reported Tuesday.

The company ran taste tests with sex workers, including prototypes with chocolate, banana and strawberry flavors, but the paan flavor came out tops.

'The community loved it as most of the sex workers chew paan,' Sanjeev Gaikwad was quoted as saying at the launch in Mumbai. Gaikwad is a director at Family Health International, a public health organisations that helped develop the condom.

Paan is a mildly intoxicating preparation wrapped in a leaf, usually containing tobacco, betel nut and flavorings, and is hugely popular across South Asia. It is chewed to a mouth-staining red pulp before being spat out.

The condoms will at first be made available only to prostitutes, but will we launched to the general public in a few months, the newspaper said."

Stripper with no pants chases bloody man down street

STLtoday - News - Law & Order: "Police spent most of today trying to find out why a bloodied man crashed his car into other autos stopped in traffic on the Poplar Street Bridge during rush hour this morning.

Shortly after 8 a.m., several drivers sought another -- Illinois State Police Trooper Ralph Timmins, who was also stuck in traffic -- for help. Up ahead in the eastbound lanes was a car that had crashed into several cars. When Timmins looked, he saw a man covered in blood jumping out of the car. The man was running toward the Route 3 exit on foot, but was quickly arrested and taken to a hospital in East St. Louis, Timmins said.

Also leaving the car was a woman -- a stripper who reportedly had no pants on, St. Louis police said.

Police initially believed the woman was a victim of an assault. Later, the woman told police that she had agreed to go to a motel in the city and have sex with the man for money.

The woman told police that after the pair had sex, the man refused to pay her. So, police said, the woman jumped in the man's car and began fighting him as he drove toward Illinois in his car.

The woman was taken to a hospital in St. Louis."

German bus driver objects to passenger's breasts | The Register

German bus driver objects to passenger's breasts | The Register: "A German bus driver demonstrated exemplary concern for his passengers' safety when he ordered a 20-year-old sales clerk to shift her mammary assets or vacate the vehicle, Bild reports.

A shocked Debora C of Lindau recounted: 'Suddenly he stopped the bus. He opened the door and shouted at me 'Your cleavage is distracting me every time I look into my mirror and I can't concentrate on the traffic. If you don't sit somewhere else, I'm going to have to throw you off the bus.''

Debora duly relocated her jubs to a less life-threatening location, but admitted she'd been 'humiliated' by the ordeal.

The bus company, meanwhile, defended its employee, offering: 'The bus driver is allowed to do that and he did the right thing. A bus driver cannot be distracted because it's a danger to the safety of all the passengers.'

Readers can judge for themselves just how distracting Debora's breasts are here. ®"

Report finds fewer teens having sex, more using condoms

Daily Chronicle Online | News | Report finds fewer teens having sex, more using condoms

WASHINGTON - Fewer high school students are having sex these days, and more are using condoms. The teen birth rate has hit a record low.

More young people are finishing high school, too, and more little kids are being read to, according to the latest government snapshot on the well-being of the nation's children. It's good news on a number of key wellness indicators, experts said of the report being released Friday.

“The implications for the population are quite positive in terms of their health and their well-being,” said Edward Sondik, director of the National Center for Health Statistics. “The lower figure on teens having sex means the risk of sexually transmitted diseases is lower.”

In 2005, 47 percent of high school students - 6.7 million - reported ever having had sexual intercourse, down from 54 percent in 1991. The rate of those who reported having had sex has remained the same since 2003.

Thirty-four percent of the students reported having had sex during a three-month period in 2005. Of those, 63 percent - about 3 million - used condoms. That's up from 46 percent in 1991.

The teen birth rate, the report said, was 21 per 1,000 young women ages 15-17 in 2005 - an all-time low. It was down from 39 births per 1,000 teens in 1991.

“This is very good news,” said Sondik. “Young teen mothers and their babies are at a greater risk of both immediate and long-term difficulties.”

The birth rate in the 15-19 age group was 40 per 1,000 in 2005, also down sharply from the previous decade.

Education campaigns that started years ago are having a significant effect, said James Wagoner, president of Advocates for Youth, a Washington-based nonprofit group that focuses on prevention of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.

“I think the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the efforts in the '80s and '90s had a lot to do with that,” Wagoner said of the improved numbers on teen sex, condoms and adolescent births.

“We need to encourage young teens to delay sexual initiation and we need to make sure they get all the information they need about condoms and birth control,” he said.

The report was compiled from statistics and studies at 22 federal agencies, and covered 38 key indicators, including infant mortality, academic achievement rates and the number of children living in poverty. The 2005 figures were the most comprehensive numbers available.

Other highlights:

• The percentage of children covered by health insurance decreased slightly. In 2005, 89 percent of children had health insurance coverage at some point during the year, down from 90 percent the previous year.

• The percentage of low birthweight infants (born weighing less than 5 pounds, 8 ounces) increased. It was 8.2 percent in 2005, up from 8.1 percent in 2004.

• More youngsters are getting reading time. Sixty percent of children ages 3-5 (and not in kindergarten) were read to daily by a family member in 2005, up from 53 percent in 1993.

• The percentage of children who had at least one parent working year round and full-time increased to 78.3 percent in 2005, up from 77.6 percent the previous year.

• More young people are completing high school. In 2005, 88 percent of young adults had finished high school - up from 84 percent in 1980.

The report was released by the Federal Interagency Forum on Child and Family Statistics - a consortium of federal agencies that includes the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the Census Bureau and the Administration for Children and Families.

POZ - News : Senator in Prostitution Scandal Opposes Condoms

POZ - News : Senator in Prostitution Scandal Opposes Condoms

A New Orleans brothel is claiming Senator David Vitter (R-LA) was a client just days after his July 9 apology to supporters for using a Washington, D.C. escort service. During work hours, however, it turns out the senator does not support AIDS aid to African countries if it includes contraceptive distribution, according to a questionnaire he completed on VoteSmart.org. Here at home, Vitter tried unsuccessfully last month to re-authorize the Title V Abstinence Education Program to continue abstinence-only sex ed in schools. Earlier this spring, Randall Tobias, the first U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator, was linked to patronizing the same D.C. escort service and resigned from his jobs as Director of Foreign Assistance and Administrator of USAID. Tobias had been the architect of the Bush administration’s rule that all recipients of international AIDS funding sign a pledge renouncing prostitution.

Jokes: St. Finger

Thanks to Unc Wes for this story:
Three priests were in a railroad station on their way
home to Pittsburgh. Behind the ticket counter was a very
sexy, shapely, well endowed woman wearing a very tight,
skimpy sweater. She made the three priests very nervous,
so they drew straws to determine who would get the tickets.

The first priest approached the window. "Young lady, I
would like three pickets to titsburg." He completely lost his
composure and fled.

The second priest goes to the window. "Young lady, I would
like three tickets to Pittsburgh and I would like the change in
nipples and dimes."
Mortified, he too fled.

"Morons," the third priest mutters and moves to the window.
"Young lady, I would like three tickets to Pittsburgh and I
would like the change in nickels and dimes. And, if you insist
on dressing like that, when you get to the pearly gates,
St. Finger's going to shake his Peter at you."

They took a bus.

Woman Almost Dies After Bikini Wax

FOXNews.com - Woman Almost Dies After Bikini Wax - Health News | Current Health News | Medical News

'Brazilian' bikini waxes are increasingly popular among women who live nowhere near the bikini-clad beaches of Rio de Janeiro. For one 20-year-old woman in Melbourne, Australia, this routine procedure nearly took her life.

The woman was admitted to an emergency room just two weeks after receiving a the Brazilian bikini wax, a procedure that involves removing even more hair front-to-back than a traditional bikini wax, according to the Brief Report published online in the June issue of the journal of Clinical Infectious Diseases.

"Our case is notable, because it illustrates the infectious risks of pubic hair removal in a patient with diabetes," the authors concluded. "The beauty industry is growing at an unprecedented rate and more invasive and potentially harmful procedures are increasingly available."

The authors of the report warn that anyone with a compromised immune system, including diabetics and people infected with HIV, should think twice about waxing, or any beauty procedure.

While the patient experienced "significant pain" and some bleeding during the procedure, which was performed by a trainee beauty therapist, her health had taken a sharp turn for the worse by the time she sought medical attention.

According to the report, the young woman had poorly controlled type 1 diabetes. She was admitted to the hospital with a high fever, excruciating pain, "grossly swollen" genitalia, and a rash across her chest and neck.

The woman's pain was so intense and the inflammation so severe that doctors were barely able to examine her in the emergency room.

Eventually, the doctors were able to take blood samples and cultures, which came back positive for the potentially life-threatening bacteria, Streptococcus pyogenes.

The patient's weakened immune system put her at risk when she underwent the hot-wax procedure, which caused the infection. A more complete exam, done under general anesthetic, revealed the woman was infected with herpes simplex.

She was discharged after 10 days in the hospital after a steady regimen of antibiotics and other medications that saved her life. While she had regained her health, she had not learned her lesson.

Six months later, the woman again tried to remove her pubic hair, but this time she was shaving herself. She subsequently developed a recurrence of herpes and another skin infection.

She was treated again successfully, but the report noted that, "despite her traumatic experiences, the patient was keen to undertake further removal of pubic hair."

Even for salon customers without suppressed immune systems, this woman's story can be a lesson. Many studies have shown nail salons that do not properly sterilize equipment can easily spread hepatitis.

Every salon patron, especially those getting bikini waxes, should ensure that they attend clean and reputable establishments where therapists regularly wash their hands and wear gloves.

The authors of this report also recommend physicians familiarize themselves with these beauty practices so they can better advise patients about the pros and cons of their beauty regimens.

Police: Male strippers robbed while fleeing drunken bachelorette party | Local News | kgw.com | News for Oregon and SW Washington

Two people were arrested early Saturday after a bachelorette party got out of control over a male stripper act, according to police.

Washington County sheriffs said a Portland man called police to the home on NW Kearney Street just after midnight to report a robbery.

Washington County

The caller said he was acting as a security guard for his two friends hired to perform a striptease routine -- but told police the men stopped their act after the women became too drunk and unruly.

He told 19-year-old maid of honor Tessa Weller that the three were going to leave, according to deputies. But that’s when Weller called her boyfriend to come get the money back from the strippers.

While driving away from the home, the victims said that they had to stop because one of their tires had been slashed. Right then, police said 21-year-old Joshua Fultz came up and threatened them with a bat, demanding the $200 back.

The victims gave back the money and Fultz went back to the house, police said.

Officers arrived and arrested Fultz for weapons charges, menacing and robbery. Marisella Lee Vidalez, 19, was also arrested for slashing the victim's tire. Weller was cited for minor in possession.

When condoms turn into hats and lollipops - Sify.com

When condoms turn into hats and lollipops - Sify.com

Beijing: Condoms of all shapes and sizes were on display at a Beijing fashion show on Wednesday featuring dresses, hats and even lollipops made of the said item.

Models fought through extravagant soap bubble special effects to show off tight-fitting wedding gowns, scaly-looking evening dresses, outrageous bikinis and other garments made entirely of condoms, inflated or otherwise.

The show was held at the Fourth China Reproductive Health New Technologies and Products Expo and organised by China's largest condom manufacturer, Guilin Latex Factory, to promote the use of condoms in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

It also marked World Population Day, organised annually by the UN Population Fund.

China, with a population now of 1.3 billion, introduced a strict one-child policy in the late 1970s under which many residents are restricted to one child.

"One (child) is not enough -- two are better," said visitor Song Weiliang.

The main aim of the condom show was to promote AIDS awareness.

China originally stigmatised AIDS as a disease of the decadent, capitalist West -- a problem of gays, sex workers and drug users. Traditionally, none of these officially existed in Communist China.

It has belatedly woken up to the problem, and health experts have warned the virus is now moving into the general population. But a lack of sex education and unwillingness to talk about sex still hampers the fight, health experts say.

Vietnam experiences a "quiet" sexual revolution - Boston.com

Vietnam experiences a "quiet" sexual revolution - Boston.com

HO CHI MINH CITY (Reuters) - A young woman lives with her boyfriend but hides it from her family, girls write blogs about love and relationships and couples seeking privacy cuddle in public parks at nightfall.

A "quiet" sexual revolution is unfolding in Vietnam, an intensely family-oriented society that holds strong traditions of women being married by their mid-20s and having children.

Huyen, a 30-year-old public relations executive, came to work in Ho Chi Minh City two years ago from Hanoi. After first staying with an aunt, she secretly moved into her boyfriend's apartment.

"I didn't tell my aunt," she said. "It is quite popular to move in together. Besides, Saigon is big and many couples who have moved together from other provinces live together."

Young people are dating more before marriage, having pre-marital sex, and have more outlets through the Internet to talk about the joys and problems of relationships than previous generations.

Parks in the city still called Saigon are popular at night among canoodling couples for whom privacy is a premium. Although economic change has altered the model of three generations living under one roof, it is still the norm for most.

Sitting on motorcycles with their backs to the road and oblivious to the surroundings, these couples are usually in their 20s, the age group that makes up more than half of Vietnam's 85 million population.

In the heart of the capital, Hanoi, a tree-lined boulevard aptly named Thanh Nien (Young People) runs between two lakes and is known as a "lover's lane" for romantic trysts. Couples cuddle and kiss on their bikes under the trees or in swan-shaped paddle boats out on the water.

LIGHTS OUT

The tradition dates back to the early 1980s when assignations were tacitly permitted by the straight-laced authorities, recalled sociologist Le Bach Duong.

"I still remember they would turn off the lights on Thanh Nien street at 7.30 or 8 at night so it was like an unwritten agreement between the electricity authority and the youth," said Duong, director of the Institute for Social Development Studies.

"At midnight, they turned the lights back on again."

Nowadays, the lights stay on.

It is all part of the socio-economic transformation in the communist-run country that was relatively isolated only 15 years ago after decades of war and economic failure.

"Somebody said it is a time of sexual revolution in Vietnam but it is a bit quieter than that, than what happened say in America in the 1960s and 1970s, but it's growing," said psychologist Khuat Thu Hong.

"It's difficult to explain such a rapid change."

The changes are especially sharp for single women, whose job opportunities and mobility have become equal to those of men in recent years of high economic growth and increased incomes as agrarian Vietnam moves toward industrialization.

Living arrangements are changing, especially for migrants who left home villages to study at university or work in offices and factories around the southern commercial hub of Ho Chi Minh City.

Internet chat rooms, web sites, blogs and columns in the state-run "mass media" have become forums for young people to discuss love and sex and sexual orientation.

Vietnamese say attitudes towards sex and relationships have become much more open. However, most preferred not to use their full names in interviews, a telling sign that traditional family values still hold sway.

One outspoken woman is Nhu Khue, a petite 30-year-old who writes her own blog and is an active member of a web site for women www.traicasau.com/forum.

"In Vietnam, old people still want girls to be virgins but times are changing," she said.

Khue and others said that there is a perception that only Vietnamese women who date foreign men have pre-marital sex.

EXTRA-MARITAL AFFAIRS

In general, Westerners living in Vietnam view Vietnamese as abiding by traditional norms, but it is not a prudish society.

"Rice six days a week and pho (noodle soup) on the seventh," is a comment some Vietnamese make to indicate an extra-marital affair or liaisons with a prostitute.

Sharp beeps or vibrations on a married man's mobile phone can elicit quips about "the cat" (lover) calling.

Research on youth by a variety of organizations show that young people are sexually active at the same age as their parents, but the difference is that their parents were married and they are not.

These and other phenomena indicate that sex is no longer seen just for reproduction of children or an heir to work the farm, but more than that, experts said.

"Through our counseling we hear a lot of young people both girls and boys, talk about their pleasure," said Hoang Tu Anh, a medical doctor with the Consultation of Investment in Health Promotion non-governmental organization.

"In the last two or three years, there has been an upsurge in short stories or novels written by female writers on female sexuality," Tu Anh said.

The group runs a web site www.tamsubantre.com that provides a forum for people to chat under the auspices of a moderator about marriage, relationships and reproductive and sexual health.

Donors such as the United Nations Population Fund and others back a Sunday evening call-in show on Voice of Vietnam radio called "Windows of Love," a forum for people of all ages.

"It is quite remarkable that at least outwardly, all this change has not resulted in a break-up of social cohesion," said Ian Howie, UNFPA representative in Vietnam. "The rapidity of change seems to have been accommodated."

Sex ed would 'defile temples of learning'

Sex ed would 'defile temples of learning'

That is the Delhi BJP president’s argument against lessons on birds and bees in school

New Delhi: The sex education controversy has reared its head in the capital with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) asserting that the government should not allow the subject in schools as it would “defile the sacred temples of learning”.

As politicians kick up dust, the debate rages whether talking about the birds and bees is a taboo in the land of the Kamasutra and Khajuraho.

In a statement that made sceptics curl their lips at the BJP’s obscurantism, Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan said sex education could lead to schools becoming sex spots and compel many girls to drop out.

“Sex is a natural instinct. Even animals learn about it. No one teaches animals about sex, but they do it anyway. The consequences of sex education in western countries has been disastrous and unwanted pregnancy among students has risen alarmingly.

We don’t want this experiment in India and I am sounding a note of caution,” Vardhan said.

Commenting on Delhi government’s curriculum ‘Yuva’, likely to be implemented in all schools from this academic session, Vardhan said, “The curriculum prepared is so obscene that (woman) teachers feel embarrassed after reading it.

Many of them have told me on phone that it is not possible to teach this curriculum in its present form. Foreign powers are trying to harm Indian culture indirectly through this curriculum.

They want to ruin the young generation,” he said. Ironically, the BJP president is a doctor and also the adviser to the WHO since 1998.

Yuva under fire

According to Dr Vardhan, the Yuva curriculum has graphic details of unnatural sex. He said the Delhi Chief Minister is herself a woman and should have realised that sex education in schools would deter girls from going to school.

Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely had said while launching the programme that as government school students came from different backgrounds, there was a need for such a programme.

“One period every week in schools will be dedicated to sex education,” Lovely had said. Stating that unwanted pregnancies in Britain has increased by four per cent, Vardhan said, “Medicines to prevent pregnancy were kept in the schools.

Children start engaging in sexual activities leaving behind their education. At present, a campaign has been started in entire Europe to stop sex education in schools.”

Delhi Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely, however, said the government is just trying to answer the queries of adolescents.

“It is not actually sex education, but an interactive session in schools. It’s also about HIV and AIDS,” he said.

The Five Sexiest Video Clips of All Time

How do you go about rating what it the sexiest video clip of all-time? Sexy seems to be a perception and changes from one to the next. YouTube and its many spin off clones have given us the format to identify the top five based upon ratings and most viewed. From there we also took into account how long the video clip has been in circulation, which is the lasting factor. Some video clips gain viral fame in a matter of weeks and are forgotten. Others however are timeless and have carried on long since their post. So let us get on with the countdown. #5 Porn Stars’ Favorite Positions - watch it now This is a wonderful collection of interviews outside the Erotica LA convention. The most sexed up women in the world are forced to name one position that is their favourite. The answers are jaw dropping to say the least. One starlet explains how the only panties she ever owned was ripped off by the guy she was trying to impress and she has never bought another pair. She went on to say that her favorite position was face down, bound hands behind her back, with a ball in her mouth, and no blindfold because she like to see what is going on.
#4 Suicide Girls – watch it now These girls sure do know how to put on a show. Up to the point when I saw this video, my experience with the Suicide Girls was an episode of CSI Miami. After watching this I have found a new attraction to girls in goth with tattoos. It was hard to watch this video clip twenty or thirty times without developing some type of fetish. It is amazing the type of wardrobes you can make out of just a few strips of black electrical tape. #3 Hot Girls Kissing – watch it now Here is a video clip of video clips. Some random guy put together this masterpiece one late night on his computer. This guy turned god has given us mere mortals a gift. One part Howard Stern, two parts Jenna J, and one part Jenna Haze makes for a happy boy any time of the day. #2 Ginger vs. Mary Ann Pie Fight – watch it now This one has an appeal that cuts through generations of men. Your grandfather will love this because of his personal fantasies dating back to when Gilligan’s Island was the most watched television show on land or sea. It was first part of a commercial for a reality show, and then it was released on the internet and took on a life of its own. #1 Miller Lite Catfight – watch it now It is only fitting that an extended version of a beer commercial comes it at number one. Thirty years ago the advertising executives figured out what beer drinkers like to watch and super bowl commercials have never been the same. The simple man loves to see hot girls with large breasts. A few years ago they decided to put it over the top with two of the hottest girls on the planet having a cat fight in the middle of the city. Hopefully this will someday be in the top 5 greatest article of all time.

Robo Potties sound siren if you take too long

CBS4) FT. LAUDERDALE Some people are calling Ft. Lauderdale Mayor Jim Naugle "homophobic" over remarks he made in support of purchasing new electronic portable bathrooms.

Designed to hold one person at a time, the new robo-potties are self-cleaning, self locking, and have a special timer that opens the door and sets off a siren if it thinks you've been in there too long.

City Mayor Jim Naugle likes this timer feature of the robo-potties because he feels it would cut down on the "homosexual activity" normally associated with public bathrooms in some sections of Ft. Lauderdale.

"One of the reasons the committee recommended this type of single occupant facility is because of sexual activity that takes place in public bathrooms around South Florida, and this type of facility would be less susceptible to that," said Naugle in a statement from the Bahamas.

Naugle told CBS4's Joan Murray he has a stack of letters from concerned fathers whose sons play baseball at Holiday Park. The letters complain of men having sex in the park's public bathrooms.

Plans now are to install the new robo-commodes next to the city parking lot at Sebastian Street and State Road A1A; an area many locals call the city's 'gay beach.'

Fort Lauderdale plans to spend $250,000 to $350,000 for the robotic restroom, plus about $30,000 a year to service and maintain it.

Senator's number on escort service list - Yahoo! News

Senator's number on escort service list - Yahoo! News

WASHINGTON - Sen. David Vitter, R-La., apologized Monday night for "a very serious sin in my past" after his telephone number appeared among those associated with an escort service operated by the so-called "D.C. Madam."

Vitter's spokesman, Joel Digrado, confirmed the statement in an e-mail sent to The Associated Press.

"This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible," Vitter said in the statement. "Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there — with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way."

The statement containing Vitter's apology said his telephone number was on old phone records of Pamela Martin and Associates before he ran for the Senate.

Deborah Jeane Palfrey was accused in federal court of racketeering by running a prostitution ring that netted more than $2 million over 13 years, beginning in 1993. She contends, however, that her escort service, Pamela Martin and Associates, was a legitimate business.

Vitter, 46, a Republican in his first Senate term, was elected to the Senate in 2004. He represented Louisiana's 1st Congressional District in the House from 1999 to 2004.

Vitter and his wife, Wendy, live in Metairie, La., with their four children.

Palfrey's attorney, Montgomery Blair Sibley, told the AP, "I'm stunned that someone would be apologizing for this." He said Palfrey had posted the phone numbers of her escort service's clients online Monday, but he did not know whether Vitter's number was among them.

Vitter's statement was sent to the AP's New Orleans bureau Monday evening. As of late Monday night, the AP has been unable to connect to Palfrey's Web site.

Earlier this year Palfrey, 51, of Vallejo, Calif., asked the Supreme Court to delay the criminal case against her — a request the court denied in May. Her attorney had argued that it was unfair to proceed against Palfrey because her assets remain seized in a civil forfeiture case, meaning she lacks the money to hire an attorney of her choice.

Randall Tobias, a senior official in the State Department, resigned in April after ABC News confronted him about his use of the escort service. He admitted that he had hired women to come to his Washington condo and give him massages but denied that he had sex with the escorts.

Palfrey threatened for months to release her client list, which led prosecutors to accuse her of trying to intimidate potential witnesses.

Contending that her escort service was legal, Palfrey revealed details of its operation on ABC's news magazine "20/20" on May 4. At the time, ABC said it could not link any information provided by Palfrey to members of Congress or White House officials but did find links to prominent business executives, NASA officials and at least five military officers.

Prosecutors contend that Palfrey knew the 130 women she employed over 13 years were engaged in prostitution. She claims that she operated a "legal, high-end erotic fantasy service" and that the women signed contracts in which they promised not to have sex with clients. The service charged a flat rate of $275 for 90 minutes, she said.

Palfrey pleaded guilty to pimping charges in 1991 and was sentenced to 18 months in a California prison.

Drinkers celebrate news that brewer's droop a myth | NEWS.com.au

BOOZE may not be quite as toxic to a man's sex life as first thought, with a study finding alcohol appears to protect men from impotence rather than predispose them to it.

A review of previous studies on the subject, involving men in South America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific, including Australia, found that contrary to popular belief, regular alcohol consumption cut the risk of male impotence by nearly 20 per cent overall.

While low-level drinking, of seven or fewer drinks a week, brought a benefit that was too small to be statistically significant, higher levels were effective.

The results, published in the International Journal of Impotence Research, found that moderate drinking - eight or more drinks a week - cut the risk of impotence, known by the medical term erectile dysfunction, by a statistically significant 15 per cent.

In Australia, official health guidelines recommend men drink no more than four standard drinks a day, or two drinks a day for women.

A standard drink in Australia is defined as containing 10g of alcohol.

The authors, from the University of Hong Kong, said it "appears that alcohol consumption ... is related to sexual function", with moderate consumption giving the highest protection and the benefits reducing the more alcohol was drunk.

However, the authors could not tell from the data at what point over eight drinks a week alcohol consumption stopped being beneficial.

They also suggested the "myth" that alcohol might cause ED could have arisen from the well-known tendency for alcohol to enhance desire but impair performance.

The authors said this was merely a "short-lived effect of alcohol and will not cause ED permanently".

"This study has demonstrated that chronic alcohol consumption is not a risk factor for ED," they wrote.

Chris McMahon, director of the Australian Centre for Sexual Health at the University of Sydney, said the findings were "logical" as moderate alcohol consumption was already known to have benefits for cardiovascular health, which in turn was linked to healthy erections.

However, he said the latest review was limited by the quality of the studies on which its findings were based, and further studies were required.

"I expect we will see this finding picked up in alcohol advertisements, which is a pity," he said.

"This does not constitute a good reason to drink to excess."

(Sure it does. Get drunk and get laid!)

Nick Lachey on sex picture scandal: “Where’s the scandal?” TransWorldNews Press Release

(It's because we all thought you were gay, Nick.)

Atlanta, GA 7/9/2007 3:44 PM GMT (FINDITT)

Nick Lachey doesn’t understand why such a big deal was made out of the sex pictures taken of him and girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo.

“Where’s the scandal? I was in Mexico with my girlfriend celebrating our anniversary together on a private vacation. It’s not like I was caught with a Mexican hooker.”

Despite his dismissal of the scandal, he has taken legal action against the photos being released. Lawyer Marty Singer was hired by the couple to prevent the pictures from being seen.

“We’ve all gone out and had a few too many and done something stupid. We’ve all made mistakes,” Lachey said of the pictures.

A source called the pictures “Paris Hilton sex tape level.” Singer said that the media will face a lawsuit if they decide to publish the images.
